François Linke was a renowned French cabinetmaker known for his exceptional craftsmanship and exquisite furniture designs. He lived during the late 19th and early 20th centuries and left a lasting legacy in the world of decorative arts

François Linke was born on June 10, 1855, in Bohemia, which is now part of the Czech Republic. He later moved to France, where he established his career. Linke founded his own furniture workshop in Paris in 1881. His workshop quickly gained a reputation for producing some of the finest furniture in the Belle Époque and Art Nouveau styles.

Linke was known for his intricate and opulent designs, often featuring elaborate ormolu (gilded bronze) mounts, exquisite marquetry, and innovative mechanical features.

His work was strongly influenced by the styles of Louis XV and Louis XVI, as well as the artistic and architectural trends of his time.

Linke's exceptional craftsmanship attracted the attention of European royalty and nobility. He received commissions from prestigious clients, including King Edward VII of the United Kingdom and King Alfonso XII of Spain.

Linke's work was featured in several international exhibitions, including the Paris Exposition Universelle of 1900, where he was awarded a gold medal.

He also received recognition at the 1902 Turin International Exhibition.
